Someone from an agency called inviting me for a job interview. I ignored the call knowing that the jobs they are offering does not interest me at all. The later that evening, friend told me that she was also called by the same agency and she went for the interview and she was offered a job at ABSCBN. Suddenly my decision about not attending the interview changed. The next morning, I dressed up and go for the opportunity.

The agent in the agency assigned me immediately as a Counter Sales Assistant (CSA), I had second thoughts then. I wanted to have a job that is of course in-line with my course. But at that moment, I thought that I have been a bum and waiting for three months long. So I agreed with the position

After I had lunch I went to Smart’s head office, waited for two hours and got interviewed. I passed.

The next Monday was my final interview with the area head manager. She assigned me at SM Manila and directed me to go back at my agency to discuss my compensation package and then start going to work by the next day. I did as I was told.

On my first day as a CSA the OIC (Officer-in-charge) told me to swap sims. I felt degraded. Three hours after lunch, an officemate told me that I can have my break. It was my first meal of the day, so imagine how hungry I was. I was exhausted, my body aches. I didn’t expect the load of the job I have committed. After an hour I came back to continue my work. At 7pm my OIC told me to have a break, when I came back after an hour the OIC told me that I should have told her that I already had a break and we can only have it once. I was shocked, I was already there at 10am and she didn’t remember giving me a lunch break only remembering it by 7 in the evening! Good thing I have an officemate kind enough to remember me at lunch.

On my third day, I met the supervisor. It was an ugly meeting. She scolded me and told me that she didn’t want messy people. I was offended, I don’t know what’s she’s talking about. She’s claiming that I left my bag on the floor while I put it inside the drawer (somebody must have got it out). It was again past lunch and I’m so hungry. I was so stressed with that meeting that I ran to the comfort room and cried like a baby (I think I know now why it was called comfort room). While having lunch I kept my tears from falling. I feel so lonely that day.

Everyday the OIC designates me to sim swapping and I got used to be the last one having lunch. I was so tired and pissed-off. I couldn’t even go to the restroom if I feel I have to because there are a lot of subscribers in line that will get mad if I get off so often.

This job is both exhausting and depressing. If there is a thing called purgatory, this was it. I go to work every 10am and go home at 10pm. And only have one rest day. As if I have no life. Thank god I have a patient boyfriend never getting tired of fetching me everyday, waiting outside our branch for an hour.
